Retro-Titted!
Ok, I've actually got quite a bit more done (including more bloody Bloodletters), but with Heat 1 of the GTs coming up next weekend, I'm spending more time painting than updating so there will probably be a clump of posts after that, including a report of the army's first competitive outing.
Just a quick one then, as I've said, I really wasn't too happy with the fiend, so here's the new improved (well in my opinion at least) figure.
The claws are from the old metal spawn - of which I have 4 on my desk in various states of conversion - expect some Beasts of Nurgle soon.
Boshank (that's a word from the streets that means good)

There Will Be Blood(letters)
Righty ho. These Bloodletters are officially the biggest shit in the world to put together.
1. They come in 8 (yes 8!) pieces.
2. They have mould lines in lots of fiddly places, such as across knuckles and on teeny tiny spikes and spines.
3. After you've stuck the fuckers together, you still have to fill several gaps with greenstuff.
4. Once you've spent several hours (and I mean several hours of your life putting the bastards together you realise that your chances of getting them to rank up properly is next to zero. Fortunately, because they take so long to put together, you only did them a few at a time, and because of that you can spend even more time on the next ones to make sure everything ranks up.
I have another 15 to do.

Ch Ch Ch Ch Changes!
One brand spanking new Lord of Change for your perusal. He was a real bugger to paint and to photograph with lots of little details that were easily overlooked and arms and heads that seemed to keep getting in each others' way. Perhaps it's karma, as I was thinking of being a dirty, dirty power gamer and using him as Kairos Fateweaver (hence the two heads) at the upcoming filth fest that is Heat 1 of the GW GT season.
Anyhoo, some photos.

Billy Blighter
Coming in at number three in the models that look nice but are a fucker to put together (after the Screaming Skull Catapult and the Scraplauncher) is Epidemius, The Tallyman of Nurgle - or more often in my armies, a generic Nurgle Herald on a Palanquin. Epidemius only really works well in a pure Nurgle army, and I doubt I'll have the figures painted for that for a long time.
Check him out!
As I've said before I don't want to spend too long on each part of the army, else I'll be less likely to actually finish it, so no fancy-dan freehand on this mofo's banners'. Instead I've crudely daubed a couple of Nurgle symbols on in my blood mix (Tamiya Smoke and Clear Red). It's come out better on the big banner than the little one, but I'm still reasonably happy with the results.
Lots of the new Citadel Washes have been used on this chap, with mostly pretty pleasing results. The red is especially good for doing sore skin (lovely!). They do have a tendency to dull down metallic colours a bit however.
Lovely Stuff

The Furious Five (Plus One)
These bad boys were painted before the start of my Daemon Army as part of one of my "Armies that never happened collection"(tm). However, I thought they would fit in well with the rest of the army, even if their skin is a little lighter than the other models in the army. Also, they're made out of Strigoi Vampires and Fury wings, so considering how much the buggers cost, I'll be damned if I'm not going to use them.
I've another 9 of these ready to go, so I'll be able to put out three units of five. Although, with US5 needed for flanks, table quarters and objectives, I think I'll probably run two units of 6 or 7 most of the time so I can afford to lose one.
Finally, thanks to Rob Lane whose own Chaos Furies inspired these. I say inspired, these furies are really just a copy of his. But why let a good idea go?

You CAN Put Lipstick On A Pig
Right, this figure didn't quite come out as I planned. Still, I thought it would be good to show all of the developments of the army not just the ones I was completely happy with.
Several years ago, when Storm of Chaos was released, I started to convert some figures for Pleasureseekers. I'm not the greatest with green stuff and this was a bit too much of a task for me. When the new book was released, I realised that my half formed figures would make good fiends, so I tried to finish them, and this was the result.
As you can see, some of the GS work is, shall we say, a little rough. I really like the concept though, and I've got 2 more half formed on my painting desk. Hopefully, with more sculpting practice I'll be able to come up with breasts that don't look like an advert for "When Plastic Surgery Goes Bad" (preferably narrated by Greg Evigan). When I do, I'll revisit this model, and the others and try and improve the front. Either that or try and find some bits to replace her bits as it were.
If anybody has any ideas or tips for tits they'd be much appreciated.

Let's Flambe!
Right, here are some flamery types ready to burn the enemy. Well, so long as they don't have dragon armour that is. There's more rough and ready source lighting on these fellas, which was frankly a bit of a mind boggler due to the many, many flaming parts of the model, but I think it came out ok.
And a couple of individual shots.
It's all looking quite Tzeentchy and the moment, but there's more to come from all the gods, including a botched op fiend and my first special character.

Stop! Horror Time.
Other woeful titles that were considered for this post were Little Shop of Horrors, Horror(show) and Super Horror Post 47.
Of course, these are only 10 Horrors, and I'm planning on doing another 20 or so, so you may well see the above titles in the future.
The photo's of these bad boys haven't come out too well, I think it's probably because I've given the emerging Blue and Pink Horrors a high gloss finish and some blood splatters to try and make them look nice and gory, and it's proved a git to photograph.
This dude shows how bad things can look when you're trying to photograph high gloss finishes. Any tips would be much appreciated.
This fella's come out a bit better. Mostly due to the lack of gloss varnish. I've painted half of them blue and half pink as I envision having a blue, a pink and a mixed unit to get the "Banners and Markings" painting scores that sadly seem so prevalent at tournaments these days (if anybody would like to interview me for a Geek's version of Grumpy old Men, I'm available. I also have a range of hilarious anecdotes about how things were a bit different in the past and how fantastically funny that was)

He's a Firey Herald!
Righto, one of the first things I did for the army was this fella. He's basically an old school champion of Tzeentch with greenstuff flames and some quick and dirty source lighting. In the past I've been guilty of starting a new army, painting several models to a very high standard and then getting bored and often never finished more than a couple of units, so I'm trying to achieve a happy medium of quality versus speed. There's a lot going on on the base as I've always believed that a good base really lifts a model, especially as there usually looked at from a foot or so away rather than a few inches.
Lovely stuff. More to come soon.

Hello
Hello and indeed welcome to this brand spanking new blog all about the development of my Chaos army, replete with the obligatory awfully pun-tastic title. "But what shall I expect from this so called blog?" I don't hear you ask. Well, I've been rather inspired by the new(ish) Daemons of Chaos book which, power level issues aside, is rather groovy and gives a massive variety of potential armies - so much so, in fact, that for the first time in a very long time, I can see myself sticking with an army for longer than 3 months or so. Hence dear reader, this blog will document my Chaos experience replete with pictures of my newly painted figures, and the odd battle and/or tournament report here and there.
I've already got a few bits and pieces done, so expect some photographs in the next few days with more intermittent photos as and when things get done. What lovely fun!
